Fameuse or Snow

Of uncertain origin, but thought to be Canadian. Extensively cultivated in early French settlements around Lake Champlain and southern Quebec by 1730. Highly colored, the small fruit has a bright, blood red flush on very pale greenish white ground. Flesh is extremely white, rather soft, fine-textured, juicy, and very sweet. Harvest late September to early October.
