Cortland

A Ben Davis-McIntosh cross, developed in 1898 at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva. A leading Vermont apple variety, the fruit is red or red-striped with pale yellow-green ground color. Flesh is very white, with slight green tinge near core, moderately juicy and fairly sweet. Trees are very hardy. Fruit ripens early October.
